I was in a three day work training this week with a lot of sitting and listening.
Which usually means I do a lot of drawing and sketching - and I did.
It was a hard training in a lot of respects, so the sketching was really therapeutic.
I did a lot of exploring of new designs and ideas.
I had signed up for Jessica Swift's Pattern Camp that ran over the weekend, so it was really great get some ideas going about patterns I could make with my images.
Think fabric, pillows, journal covers, fun things like that.
I've explored these realms before, of course. But I've kind of jumped in and out of it between doing fine art painting, pendants, and all the other things that I get interested in as a creative person.
So I've been reacquainting myself with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and how to make repeating patterns. SO much fun.
In fact, a lot more fun than my gnarly work training. And a real relief from the week that left me with a work hangover for at least a day.
All I can say is yay for art and it's healing properties.
It's been so helpful to engage it this weekend and rest and restore so I can dive back in to my day job refreshed and re-inspired. So here's to that and better weeks ahead.
LOVE them all!
